Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu are picking up the baton passed onto them from many past reo rangatira and are focussing on a lofty vision – by 2050 te reo Māori will be one of the main languages in 50% of all Ngāti Tama ki te Tauihu homes. NAIA were contracted to plan and facilitate language planning wānanga with key Ngāti Tama whānau language champions and experts who then became the strategy advisory group. Our role was to help guide and support the group as they went on to produce E Tama Kōrero, the Ngāti Tama reo strategy. The reo strategy supports the aspirations of whānau, while being unequivocally and uniquely distinctive to Ngāti Tama, encompassing a distinctly Ngāti Tama look, feel and delivery. E Tama Kōrero was launched on July 2022.
